A BRUSH WITH KINDNESS (“ABWK”) Program

A Brush with Kindness (ABWK) is a Faulkner County Habitat for Humanity’s program.  ABWK is a unique program that enables Habitat to reach out to the community in effort to sustain and improve existing homes throughout our county.  This program partners low-income homeowners with Habitat for Humanity to perform exterior home maintenance.  The scope of projects are limited to exterior painting, landscaping, and yard cleanup. The projects are scheduled during the first of the Spring and Fall seasons (exact dates are yet to be finalized).  This is a great program that allows our group of volunteers to see a real improvement in a property and of course for a homeowner, start to finish.

A Brush with Kindness is an expansion of Habitat for Humanity’s mission.  While building and rehabbing houses remains the foundation of what we do, it has become increasingly important for us to help neighbors already in their homes. By maintaining existing housing stock, we prevent homes from becoming unlivable.  To paraphrase Benjamin Franklin, “A house saved is a house built”.
